Melanie and Brett chose to wake up super early for a gorgeous sunrise engagement session in Downtown Charleston. The morning air was calm and warm, and we were blessed with fantastic colors right before the sun crested the horizon. We thoroughly enjoyed walking Battery Wall with views of the Charleston Harbor, and empty historic streets like Rainbow Row. Melanie and Brett were such good sports despite the early hour and we had tons of fun at their session. We cannot wait for their amazing spring wedding at the Historic Rice Mill.
Honestly sunrise sessions are not for the faint of heart, with a starting time before 6am. But if you are normally an early riser or can chug a ton of coffee, it is a great way to beat some of the heat and humidity in Charleston. You are rewarded for dragging yourself out of bed with soft, glowy, and beautiful light. There is also something so magical and romantic about wandering around a city at dawn while everything is still and perfectly quiet. No traffic, no tourists, just peaceful silence with the one you love and the soft glow of sunrise. It’s also a great excuse to go out for breakfast after your session.
