With so many options for your engagement session, it’s difficult to choose between historic Downtown Charleston, a cute park, a waterfront estate, a huge lane of live oak trees, a historic plantation, the lake, a beach, etc. The possibilities are near endless for the Charleston area. It’s important to choose a venue that resonates with you and your personalities as a couple.
Sunset beach photos are fun, casual, and laid back – it’s hard to be formal with your toes in the sand – am I right?!?! Water, sand, sun, sea oats – it’s the perfect location to enjoy a romantic engagement session with the one you love. But if sand isn’t your thing, don’t worry there are many other great location options for you, the beach just isn’t one of them.
As wedding and portrait photographers, we only suggest sessions at sunrise or sunset on the beach. In the middle of the day, the sun and shadows are harsh, it’s hot, and there’s absolutely no shade. But as the sun starts to set, everything changes! The light turns soft and glowy, the winds calm down, and the temperatures cool. That yummy, warm, magical light close to sunset is truly a beautiful thing and cannot be created at any other time in the day.
We had a great time at Matt and Kayleigh’s engagement session and enjoyed capturing their interactions and love for each other. I hope that you enjoy this little preview of their engagement session.
